Anderson Honored with Achievement in Sports Award at 2009 Onyx Awards
ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Magic Community Ambassador Nick Anderson was honored at the 2009 Onyx Awards with the Achievement in Sports Award on Saturday, March 14.
Anderson, who played 10 seasons with the Magic and ranks as the franchise’s all-time leading scorer with 10,650 points, was a staple in the Central Florida community as a player and has continued benevolently impacting the community since becoming a community ambassador during the summer of 2006.
“Getting this award ranks above any on-the-court accolade I received as a player,” said Anderson, who along with community ambassador Bo Outlaw, take part in a variety of community outreach efforts.
The Onyx Awards, Florida’s premier televised awards show, annually recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of Blacks and corporations that celebrate inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
As an organization, the Magic celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of all who make up the Central Florida community, understanding what can be accomplished when everyone works together to achieve legendary moments.
